Vintage kimono silk coat

Made from beautiful vintage Meisen with a lovely yellow and green plant pattern. The “Meisen” style silk kimono was the most popular garment during the 1920’s and 1930’s when people still wore kimono daily in Japan.
The main characteristic of Meisen is its pattern, made by pre-dyed threads. As the fabric is woven the surface decoration appears as a shimmering, soft-edged pattern.

This coat has gathers just above the waste line and this design adds a coat a bit of feminine taste.

You will be surprised with how light this coat is! And still it is warm. This is a super power of pure silk. Just incredible.

Hena Hena's creations are upcycled with vintage silk kimonos which are impoirted from Japan and they are carefully unpicked by myself. I mainly use kimonos from 1950s and before. Because of their age of fabrics there could be some flaws like small marks, pinholes and colour fade etc. but they have incredibly graceful taste that only vintage kimonos have. I hope you enjoy and love the beauty of vintage kimono silks including their histories to be embraced.
