Ceramic moth with feather antenae (As seen at Sculpture on the Peninsula, Banks Peninsula)
Each moth is individually hand made using agate (marbled) clay. Vintage doilies are used to create the wing texture. After an initial firing each moth is colored prior to a second firing over 1200 degrees Celcius.
Size is approximately 10cm wing-tip to wing-tip. Wing thickness is around 4mm.
Can be wall hung by putting small nail (supplied) in to the wall at 45 degree angle. Moth then slides on. Added Bluetac or museum wax recommended for Canterbury areas where shaking may occur.
