A custom made dog collar, handmade from 3/4" wide Italian vegetable-tanned full-grain leather and solid brass hardware. Personalised with a hand stamped brass nameplate.

Available in 7 colours and 4 widths (please see our other listings for the 1/2", 1" and 1 1/4" wide dog collars). Please provide us with the following details:
- Collar colour
- Your dog's neck measurement (see instructions on how to measure below)
- Your dog's name and one contact phone number for the nameplate

The 2.8 - 3mm thick leather has been selected for its strength and beauty - as it ages it will soften and develop a unique, natural patina, whilst remaining extremely strong to withstand harsh and demanding conditions. It has been dyed all the way through with non-toxic water dyes.

The edges of the leather collar have been rounded and burnished by hand for your dog's comfort.

Cast from solid brass, our hardware has been selected for maximum strength and to ensure our products remain rust-free for life. All hardware is kept securely in place with solid brass, double cap rivets.

The leather has been paired with a whole roller buckle to ensure the strap stays securely in place, along with a dee ring for attaching a leash.

Your dog's details will be clearly seen on the 5/8" x 2 3/4" solid brass nameplate, a clever (and silent!) alternative to a traditional dog tag. Hand-stamped on two lines with 3mm letters and numbers.

With appropriate care, this leather collar should last your dog a good many years.

As our collars are entirely handmade by us, marks from the tooling process and minor inconsistencies in the stamping will occur. Neither will detract from the quality and beauty of the collar, in fact we think this adds to the charm of choosing a handmade, unique product rather than mass-produced one.

Leather is a natural material and it can display natural marking and colour variations. Over time, the leather will soften with the oils from your dog's coat, developing a natural patina. With a bit of love and care, leather ages gracefully! Give it the occasional clean and recondition with leather dressing, and it will reward you with many years of service. Avoid getting it saturated with water as this can cause the leather to become brittle. For dogs that love to swim, we recommend keeping a secondary, nylon collar for water-based outings. If your leather dog collar does get wet, allow it to dry naturally and then recondition with a good quality leather dressing.

Brass may naturally dull and tarnish over time, bring yours back to a beautiful sheen by polishing with the juice of half a lemon mixed with 1 teaspoon of baking soda.

If your dog has a history of being extremely tough on collars, for example, excessive pulling behaviour, we recommend using a specialty collar when attached to a leash and keeping this leather dog collar for 'good'. While our collars are extremely sturdy, and will withstand forceful tugging, there are determined dogs out there for which any collar is no match!

Using a soft tape measure, record the circumference of the neck at the point where a collar would naturally lie. Pull the tape or string so that it is snug but not tight. This measurement will be the middle hole of the collar, we will add another two holes either side at 3/4" intervals.

This is personal preference, but as a guide choose 1/2" for tiny dogs and puppies, 3/4" for small dogs, 1" for medium sized dogs and 1 1/4" for large dogs.
