Kereru

These Kereru are a fine art print of an original drawing using graphite on watercolour paper.

The Kereru, or Wood Pigeon, is a NZ native. Their whooshing wing beats are recognisable when heard and their areobatics are a pleasure to watch. Unfortunately, there numbers are declining due to predation of the one egg they raised at a time. This will impact natural regeneration of trees such as the miro, tawa and karaka as these are the only birds that spread their large seeds.

My style is to draw in layers building up from a base of mid-tone graphite to the darks and lights that create the texture and shading.

This print is A4 (21 cm x 29.5 cm) and will fit a standard A4 size frame or an A3 size frame with a mattboard.
