Russian Support Spindle with floral embellishment

00295 Maxi Russian support spindle.
The whorl is made from Ash, from an old tree in a friend’s garden. The shaft is Kauri, recycled from a central Christchurch building demolished after the earthquakes.
The whorl is embellished with pyrography and coloured inks; a pretty Strawberry motif. The top of the whorl has a section dyed in red and green non-toxic wood dyes to reflect the colours in the strawberries and leaves.
The spindle is finished with a friction polish, and has a stainless steel ball tip for a fast spin.
Weight 28 grams, whorl diameter 35mm, spindle length 300mm.
