Milford Sound (Piopiotahi) is New Zealand's most famous tourist destination. It runs 15 km inland from the Tasman Sea and is renowned for it's lush rain-forests, dramatic waterfalls and Mitre Peak. Rudyard Kipling called Milford the eighth Wonder of the World.

This detailed wood carving depicts the outline of the sound. It is hand-made from reclaimed Tò„tara beams that spent most of their life as a Canterbury church roof. After the 2011 earthquake the church was deconstructed and here at the Bearwood Workshop in Wanaka we have repurposed this unique piece of New Zealand history giving it another lease of life.
