My name is Chris O'Regan and I am a metalsmith working in the Celtic tradition.
The triskele is based on the number 3 (an important number frequently found in Celtic Art and Myth). It is a ancient symbol found throughout Celtic History and it's simple symmetry portrays a resonating beauty.
This piece is handcrafted,individually
etched and patinated (chemically coloured)
by myself and so each work is unique.
A resist is applied of the pattern to the copper,so when it is etched in acid,a bottom layer is eaten away and a top layer is left where no copper is dissolved.
The piece is then dipped into a chemical liquid that turns it entirely black, permanently.
It is sanded with sandpaper stripping the patination off the top layer revealing the copper but leaving it black on the lower surface.
The copper is finished with a clear acrylic spray to protect the work.
.
Supplied with an adjustable roped polyester cord (NZ made)
Comes with a card with a description of the work and how it is made.
Made from recycled copper.
50 mm (2 inches across)
