My name is Chris O'Regan and I am a metal smith working in the Celtic tradition.
This original work is inspired by the frequent appearance of birds in Celtic myth. The Seabhac (hawk) is said to represent vision and the insight of understanding.
A resist is applied of the pattern to the copper,so when it is etched in acid,a bottom layer is eaten away and atop layer is left where no copper is dissolved.
The piece is then dipped into a chemical liquid that turns it entirely black, permanently.
It is sanded with sandpaper stripping the patination off the top layer revealing the copper but leaving it black on the lower surface.
This piece is handcrafted,individually
etched and patinated (chemically coloured)
by myself and so each work is unique.
The copper is finished with a clear acrylic spray to protect the work.

Supplied with an adjustable roped polyester cord (NZ made)
Comes with a card with a description of the work and how it is made.
Made from recycled copper.
Size 50 mm (2 inches) across,
