Russian Support Spindle with floral embellishment

00296 Midi Russian support spindle.
The whorl is made from Kauri, recycled from a central Christchurch building demolished after the earthquakes. The shaft is Mahogany, recycled from old spinning wheel parts.
The whorl is embellished with pyrography, coloured inks and pearlescent acrylic paints. Three blue flowers surround the sides of the whorl, and the top of the whorl has a green leafy decoration.
The spindle is finished with a friction polish, and has a stainless steel ball tip for a fast spin.
Weight 24 grams, whorl diameter 35mm, spindle length 295mm.
