Kawakawa Hydrating Hydrosol

The Kawakawa used in this hydrosol is harvested by hand on the West Coast of the South Island. Then processed and steam distilled in our copper still, in a long and beautiful alchemic process. (Not pictured)

Kawakawa has long been used by Maori as an anti inflammatory and all round healer. It helps with inflamed and red facial skin.

A wonderful a skin hydrator and refresher, it contains nothing but the pure plant volatiles in the water that was passed through the plant material in the form of steam.

Spritz face for an instant refresher during these hot summer days
or cleanse face then apply a generous amount to skin. While hydrosol is absorbing into your skin apply your skin oil to help the water absorb and be sealed deep into the skin layers.

This is a wonderful way to get both the water and oil normally present in a moisturiser, without the addition of preservatives and other chemicals normally present in moisturisers.

This can also be used to spray the face to aid cooling and soothing during bouts of hay fever which is so prevalent this year.


Many other 'hydrosols' are not actually made in this complete process. They are often the remaining water after the essential oil has been taken off during the distillation or they can be made by adding essential oil to water. Steam distilled hydrosols are a much more complete 'picture' of each individual plant the essential oil is still present and has not been separated out, but water soluble volatiles are present also.


This contains no preservatives so should be stored in the cool and out of direct sunlight and should be used within 4 months.

Here at Fox River Bath Company we believe if it is good enough to put on your body, it should be good enough to put in your body, so there are no nasty chemicals in our products at all.

As this product contains no artificial preservatives or stabilisers it is best kept cool. It may change if left in a hot sunny environment.
