Sock Wool, Merino/Nylon Sock Blank - 2 x 50gm blanks

What is a sock blank?
A sock blank is a piece of undyed, loosely knitted white fabric that you can dye and then unravel to knit a pair of socks. To knit with a sock blank you take the ending out of the live stitches on one end of the blank, and you unravel it as you knit.

I prefer to use single thread sock blanks for dyeing and knitting. Put the two blanks side by side when you dye them and you will have two identical blanks to knit a pair of original beautiful socks.

Each blank is 64sts wide and measures about 74cm long, 34cm wide.

Blanks are knitted with acrylic yarn at the ends so you can pin them out easily to do the dyeing. They are then thrown away once you start the knitting - shown as blue and yellow in the photographs.

You can use dyes available from craft shops or Dylon or Rit dyes or even Food Colouring Dyes.

However, I can provide special orders - double strand blanks, double width blanks, blanks with acrylic stripes (acrylic yarn won't dye) set at any interval to get perfect stripes. Just ask and I will put up a listing for you.

Beautifully soft lofty 20 micron merino yarn mixed with nylon ideal for socks.

80% merino, 20% nylon. Approx. 425 yards per 100g. Spun in New Zealand. Will knit up at 28-32 st per 10cm on 2.25mm to 2.75mm needles.

Superwash wool so items can be washed in the washing machine.

Ideal for dyeing to make a unique pair of socks as it will dye beautifully - nylon dyes as well as wool with wool dyes.

100gm is easily enough for a pair of socks.
