Russian support spindle with Japanese blossom embellishment

00262 Midi Russian style support spindle.
The whorl is Rimu, recycled from an old floor loom. A section is dyed with non-toxic red wood dye, the other section of the whorl is embellished with a blossom design in pyrography & ink/pencil colour. Inspired by drawings I made on a trip several years ago to Japan. Finished with a friction polish.
The shaft is Spruce, recycled from an old pianola, with a wax finish.
A speedy little spinner and a pleasure to look at.
