The Crafty Chook is a family owned soap making business located on New Zealands Wild West Coast, Hokitika. We are the home of the "Wild Child Scrub Bars" and the original "Gorse Scrubber" Soap Bar.
Our soap is originally designed, crafted and based around the naturally untamed, the unique and quirky, the diverse and resilient, the simple and raw, and the rustic rugged beauty of life on the Coast.
Our aim is to flaunt, boast and share with everyone how amazing the West Coast is...with an ounce of humour, a small pinch of political incorrectness and a great bar of soap.
We are pretty excited to have teamed up with Tourism West Coast and now utilizing their "Untamed Natural Wilderness" banner on our products. We look forward to seeing more local businesses taking the opportunity to use the banner.
All our soaps are handmade in small batches. This enables us to keep the authenticity of each product and to replicate each of our varieties perfectly every time. We wanted to create larger pieces of soap than the norm, a bar of soap that could easily be broken in half and a product that gives you a good amount usage of for your dollars. Our soap weighs in at 150g, is 10cms in length x 7cms high and in general 1.5/2cms wide. As each piece is individually hand cut there can be small discrepancies in size and weight.
We also cater for specific needs and requirements and happy to talk to you if there is something we could help you out with. We also cater for and make up individualized Gift Boxes - these are extremely popular for the last minute shopper and for the "Just Because".
