Pastel Colours Marbled Bowl, Hand Felted

This felted bowl is hand formed from New Zealand merino wool and embellished with hand dyed silk fibres with a colour gradation in soft pastel pink, yellow and mauve.

The opening of the bowl follows the edge of the silk fibres giving an organic, undulating edge with a delicate white rim. A cutout, again following the edges of a gap in the silk fibres adds additional interest.

PROCESS
Wool fibres are first laid out in 5 layers around a flat resist and the silk fibres are added over the top. The fibres are then wet down, felted together using soap and friction and hand manipulated into a three dimensional bowl.
