The Chinese fable of an eloping couple who are being chased across a bridge and can be seen fleeing from the emperor, became of one the most identifiable design elements of 18th and 19th century crockery, known as the Willow Pattern.

With that fable in mind, I up-cycled & handcrafted a piece of broken crockery into a unique piece, cutting and fashioning it by hand into an asymmetrical pendant. Once shaped, I then frame and embellish the pendant using lead-free silver solder. This particular piece has been fashioned from the rim of a plate, which can be seen in the slight curvature at the back of the pendant, on the bottom right. There is also a tiny crack in the bottom right hand corner. [see photo no.4]

Pendant measures approx. H3cm x W3.5cm x D0.7cm at widest points.

The pendant hangs from a 9 inch, 925 Solid Silver "O" Rolo chain with a lobster clasp. The over all length of this piece when worn measures 10.5"/26cm

Because all my jewellery is handcrafted from china, ceramics and crockery that have been damage and/or broken due to their age or use, at times there may be inconsistencies. E.g. the glazing could be crazed, it may be thicker in one place compared to the rest of the piece - this is especially true where I have used the rim of the plate. Chips or cracks could also present. I call this "imperfectly perfect" and it's what makes each and every piece unique!
