A gorgeous scarf made with lovely pieces of vintage Aizome (Japanese Indigo dyed) cotton fabric.

Aizome is Japanese cotton dyed with a distinctive blue colour - indigo. Indigo was a natural dye extracted from plants.

Cotton becomes durable once dyed with indigo (Ai) and in old days in Japan, people used them as daily kimono clothes as well as special clothing for celebrations. When the fabric was damaged, people didn't throw that away. They patched the damaged area and used them for a long time. Nowadays, these patched textile is called Boro. They are loved and highly regarded by many all around the world.

The fabric has been laundered before creation, but being vintage, there may be some small stains and slight fraying.
