A pair of huia brooches

This pair of brooches features a male and female huia; the last confirmed sighting of these native New Zealand birds was in 1907.
They are gocco printed on calico, which is reinforced with interfacing and sewn onto repurposed black wool felt. They have safety clasps on the back.
They are oval shaped and measure approximately 10.5 X 6.5cm.
The edges of the calico are secured with zigzagging and the outside of the calico will fray down to the zigzagging, giving them a 'frayed on purpose' kind of look.
Keep one for yourself and give the other one to someone special...or keep them both for yourself!
