Broadfork/Ubar

Sick of double digging your garden beds every season? We know it’s a big job, wouldn’t it be great if it took half the time or less? Well the broadfork is here to save the day! The Crafty Gatherer broadfork has tines that are 450mm deep, that pierce the soil as you use your body weight pull the bar back! They are made from recycled steel when available and unbolt to become a three piece, for easy transportation. We believe a broadfork should last a lifetime, without breaking - which is why we have made the product full steel.

The broadfork, basically a large garden fork is one of our best friends in the garden because:
- It aerates the soil;
- Creates better drainage,
- Keeps the beneficial microorganisms and ecology in the soil,
- It does not allow weed seeds, which are hidden under the soil to come to the surface and germinate,
- It is great for breaking up compacted soil, and for digging over your beds each season
- You are not relying on outside sources like gas and oil and its not going to break down and need maintenance,
- Our broadfork is really strong.

As gardeners one of our most important jobs is to grow soil. Over time using your broadfork your soil will become softer, have better drainage, better texture and structure, and the beneficial organisms will absolutely love what you’re doing!

Check out our youtube video to show how the broadfork works: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XWZkgSn1jCA (please note we have now changed to 6tines and we are not spray painting green anymore to reduce waste and chemicals).

Please note: our broadforks are made in batches, and we can't promise one will be available straight away, but should only be a two week wait at the most, we will more than likely have one in stock for you!
