This collar-length necklace shows off a long, leafy green, barrel-shaped jasper bead.
The stone is translucent, and flecked with forest greens, like moss caught in ice. It is highly polished and beautifully smooth and cool to the touch.
Jasper is a semiprecious stone; a form of chalcedony. The name 'jasper' means 'spotted or speckled stone'. Jasper was a favourite gem in the ancient world; its name can be traced back in Hebrew, Assyrian, Persian, Greek and Latin. It comes in an extraordinary variety of colours and patterns.

This jasper is wire-wrapped with non-tarnish artistic wire, and suspended from four strands of hemp cord in dark brown and varying shades of beige.
The necklace finishes with an antiqued-brass coloured lobster-claw clasp and an extension chain, so you can adjust it to sit exactly as you want. The chain has textured, oval links.
The necklace measures 35.3cm, with a further 58mm of extension chain, giving a total length of 41.1cm. The jasper is 38mm long without the wire-wrapping, and 12mm across.
