This delicate-looking flower necklace features a lifelike, pink and white cloisonné lily pendant suspended from sterling silver chain.
'Sweet Lily' is a one-off Silverlight Jewellery design, never to be repeated.
Cloisonné is an ancient art whereby metal hollows or cavities, outlined by ridges or strands (sometimes twisted like ropes) of metal, are filled with coloured glass enamel. The result is shimmering colours on a metallic (often gold or silver) background.
This cloisonné flower pendant is a very high quality, beautifully made specimen, with sterling silver as its base. It has five white petals that are white on the outside and pink, tinged with yellow, on the interior of the flower. The sepals are emerald green, and the stamens are metallic amber in colour. This is one of the most lifelike cloisonné pieces I have ever seen.
The pendant has been strung on a bright, sterling silver chain with oval links, and fastens with a sterling silver lobster-claw clasp. Sterling silver is at least 92.5 percent pure silver, so while the chain and clasp may need the occasional gentle wash and polish, the silver will not rub off like silver plating eventually might.
The chain measures 42cm, including the lobster-claw clasp. The dainty cloisonné pendant measures 23mm across, 32mm from top to bottom, and each petal is approximately 6mm wide. Unlike most Silverlight Jewellery pieces, this necklace cannot be altered in length.
