These earrings feature mottled, dark grey guineafowl feathers dangling beneath a stack of semiprecious labradorite stone beads.

'Daiki' is a Japanese name consisting of a character that means 'large, great' combined with the character for either 'radiance', 'tree' or 'valuable, noble'.

The feathers are cruelty free — that is, they were moulted naturally by their avian owners, then collected, cleaned and sterilised before being mounted in these earrings. The supplier from whom I buy my feathers does not support factory farming or the mistreatment of animals in any way.
Guineafowl — sometimes called 'guineahens' — are ground-nesting birds that look a little like partridges. They are native to Africa, but they have been introduced to many other parts of the world. They have distinctive spots, in varying sizes, all over their plumage.

Labradorite is a semiprecious gemstone that is mostly deep grey in colour, with streaks of black, and flashes of blue-green 'labradorescence', which is also called 'schiller' or 'the schiller effect'.
These little rondelles of labradorite have roughly cut facets, which show off their little blue flashes and give them a rustic appearance. I have stacked them in threes and twisted non-tarnish, artist's quality wire around them to frame them and show off their rustic beauty.

These feather and stone earrings are very lightweight, and measure 81-85mm from top to bottom. Because they use natural materials, one earring is a few millimetres longer than the other. The feathers are approximately 3cm wide.
The ear-hooks are without nickel.

Feathers are delicate and thus feather jewellery should be gently treated. Avoid crushing these earrings, and handle them as little as possible. Storing them hanging will help them keep their shape for as long as possible. If these earrings need washing, swish them gently through warm water with a drop or two of hand soap in it, then dry them immediately in sunlight on a paper towel.
