Starfish Treasure earrings in verdigris: lifelike, patinated charms with white faux pearls
Superbly detailed starfish charms with a verdigris patina dangle from antiqued-copper ear-wires. Above each starfish, adorning the ear-wire, is a white glass pearl framed by leafy, antiqued-copper coloured bead-caps.
These gorgeous sea stars are made of brass, and have been hand patinated, using a special mix of chemicals, by an artisan living in America. I then sealed the starfishes with clear varnish to preserve the verdigris finish. The charms are hollow, and double sided: the undersides of the starfishes are as realistically detailed as their backs.

The 'Starfish Treasure' earrings measure 54mm from top to bottom. The starfishes are 22mm long, including the small baile (hanging loop), and 20mm across. The ear-wires are copper based and are without nickel.
The faux pearls and the bead caps have been simply slid onto the ear-wires, so it is recommended that you keep the ear-wires closed so that the beads do not slip off and get lost. Keeping the earrings hanging, rather than jumbled up in a jewellery box, will help to ensure that the ear-wires do not get opened or bent by other jewellery pieces pushing against them.
