This simple necklace showcases an old, elegantly shaped key.

The key is very old, probably vintage (30 years old or older), of unknown provenance; though someone suggested to me that it looked like the key to a cabinet of some kind. Age has turned it a deep, dark, reddish brown. I have sealed it with clear varnish to preserve its aged look and to prevent any rust or tarnish from rubbing off or spreading to your other jewellery. The barrel of the key is partially hollow, so the key is not too heavy — in fact its elegant curves and nice weight make it satisfying to handle.
The key is suspended from its chain by means of two interlocking rings for an extra detail. The chain has an antiqued-brass coloured finish, to complement the aged key, and has rounded, slightly oval links. The necklace fastens with a matching lobster-claw clasp.

'Abandoned Key' is a unique, one-off Silverlight Jewellery design, never to be repeated. It would look great layered with other vintage-inspired or steampunk pieces.

The chain measures 49.4cm, including the lobster-claw clasp. The old key measures 60mm from top to bottom, and 20mm across the bow.
To clean this necklace, wipe it gently with a damp cloth, or give it a bath in warm, slightly soapy water. Dry it immediately in sunlight or with a hairdryer or some other source of warm (but not hot) air.
