NATURALLY DYED ORGANIC PERENDALE

100% organic Perendale wool is very special and quintessentially New Zealand. I honoured this beautiful soft yarn by dyeing it with plants from my garden and other natural dyestuffs – chamomile and dahlia flowers, henna, onion skins, cochineal, madder root, indigo, eucalyptus and comfrey leaves, apple tree bark and grass. The result is soft, sweet smelling wool in gorgeous natural colours.

Knit this precious 8ply yarn with 4-5mm needles. It is suitable for any garment, especially cardis, blankets, hats and jerseys for babies. A 100g skein has app. 220m.

• Available colours:
onion I (dark yellow) - $17.50
dahlia (light olive semi-solid green) - $17.50

A word about colour fastness
I strive to make the colours as fast as possible. However, plant dyes, even those made with the help of low-toxicity mordants, such as alum (aluminum potassium sulfate), will fade over time. Because fading is a natural process I actually rather like that. Faded synthetic colours just look tired and old, whereas plant colours seem to age gracefully and look natural to their palest version.

To preserve the colour of your wool, please hand wash in luke warm water with mild detergent. Dry away from direct sunlight.

The "small" print:
My hand-dyed yarns are non-repeatable runs, which means once they’re gone, they’re gone for good.

NOTE:
I take commissions.

I prefer payment by bank transfer. Credit card option is offered mainly for overseas customers.

Please contact me if you live outside of New Zealand.

I will combine postage when possible.

When choosing colours please keep in mind that not all monitors show colours the same.

If you’re not satisfied with your wool you can return it to me in original condition, i. e. with label attached and at your own cost in exchange for different wool or a refund.

I’m a great believer in avoiding waste, and in recycling. That’s why I use recycled packaging materials wherever possible.

If you’re happy with your wool, please let me know and don’t forget to place feedback.
