Why has my image turned sideways?

If you are uploading images to a listing, and your original image appears to be the right way up but it's sideways when uploaded, this problem is caused by the auto-rotate function on your camera. The information about the orientation of the image is stored in the .exif file extension. This can be read by photo applications but not most websites, forums, blogs, etc.

To stop the images rotating, you need to disable the auto-rotation feature. Most photo editing software has an option to remove the auto-rotation feature when you save an image, though a variety of terms are used.

Try Googling "auto rotation" in conjunction with the details of the image editing software you are using in order to find out how to prevent it happening – solving the problem is different for different devices and software.
