Plant now for spring

Thursday, June 15th, 2017

If you love a spring feast of broad beans, now’s the time to get planting – and Big Bunny has a colourful new treat for bean fans!

Red Hughy broad beans have stunning scarlet flowers instead of the more usual white – a gorgeous splash of colour in the spring vege bed, and just as productive as more traditional varieties.

Why not interplant them with white-flowering Coles Dwarf for a candy-striped effect? :-)

The artful garden

Monday, January 26th, 2015

There’s nothing like a bit of eye-catching art to create a point of interest in your garden. We were delighted to find, on a recent perusal of our gardens and outdoors section, that we have some gorgeous garden art that also provides some home comforts for our winged friends as well – what could be better?

This elegant garden sculpture “Windsticks” by NZ Art is also a clever bird feeder – just skewer fruit or bread onto its long canes. We can see it foiling the dastardly plans of a few cats!

We’re also loving this bookish birdhouse by Hibiscus and amazing vortex design mosaic bird bath by Estbau – art for you and amenities for the birds: solved!

Felt has a great range of garden art to suit every style of garden, and now’s the time to be getting out there and enjoying it! Why not make it a project this summer to make your garden more enjoyable for everyone who visits it?

Summer in the garden

Thursday, January 23rd, 2014

Whether you like to work or play in the garden, this summer is proving to be a great one to get out there – and we have all sorts of goodies to help you make your garden a great place to be.

.

Whether you’re young or young at heart, a green-fingered garden goddess or a barbeque king, there’s something for every garden denizen in our gardens and greenery section.

It’s starting to feel like barbeque season

Friday, October 4th, 2013

In between the more rambunctious bouts of spring weather, we’re starting to see a glimpse or two of balmier days and sunlit, lazy evenings – which makes my (possibly somewhat optimistic) thoughts recall the sizzle of the barbeque and relaxed dining on the deck.

(Actually, who am I kidding? I never have a relaxed evening on the deck. I can’t resist popping over to the nearest bit of garden, just to pull out those couple of weeds I’ve spotted, and then before I know it I’m up to my knees in the vege patch in my best clothes. Anyway…)

For those who can resist the urge to play in the dirt, the barbeque is definitely looking increasingly tempting. We had a browse around for a few goodies to make your outdoor dining super stylish. Enjoy!
