Woodturning at its artistic finest

This stunning piece, “tiwara ipu,” was turned by David J Gillard from rewarewa. The piece is wet-turned – a technique that allows it to warp and take on a more natural, tactile form. With a beautifully fine 3mm wall thickness and 30mm opening, it has an overall height of 120mm and width of 145mm. It has a black felt surface on the inside and is finished to a gentle gloss on the outside with satin polyurethane, so it will last a lifetime and be a beautiful addition to any living space.
