Mid-century living

With the huge popularity of programmes like Mad Men, and the cyclical nature of fashion, there is a noticeable resurgence of interest in mid-20th century design and decor.

As the moniker implies, this period in architecture, interior design, urban space and graphic design history (sometimes also called mid-century modern) spanned the 1940s to the late 1960s or early 1970s and was characterised by a pared-down, simple aesthetic. White carpets, clean long lines, conversation pits, indoor-outdoor flow and a distinct lack of unnecessary flourishes and detailing are all typical of this era.
