We love this delightful Aotearoa New Zealand intaglio and watercolour map by Nelson-based Esther of Nester Prints.
Intaglio prints are created by incising into a plate with a sharp needle. When the ink is applied and then wiped off the surface, ink remains caught in the incisions and creates the impression when passed through a press with the paper. Esther prints her maps, filled with the whimsical creatures that characterise her work, onto vinyl canvas to make them durable and wipeable. They’re then mounted onto timber battens ready for you to hang straight on the wall!
