Fab Lab XCHC presents: Maker the Movie

At 7.30pm this Sunday, Christchurch’s new creative innovation workshop, Fab Lab XCHC, is hosting a special screening of Maker, a documentary about the maker movement.

The maker movement is sometimes called the third industrial revolution, and subverts traditional manufacturing by building on innovative concepts such as open source, local manufacturing, crowd funding, and digital fabrication. Breaking the hobbyist movement stereotype, “Maker” delves deep into this ecosystem of design and manufacturing in the internet era. The film explores the ideas, tools, and personalities that are driving the maker movement – and returns with a timely snapshot of one of the transforming influences of the current age.

The movie is being screened simultaneously in Auckland and Wellington in association with Mindkits and Makers.org.nz. Auckland tickets have already sold out (sorry guys) but Wellington still has seats. There are only 50 seats available for the Christchurch screening so don’t hesitate – tickets are $10 (including complimentary popcorn and soda, sweet!). Get yours now!

This is also a great chance to see Fab Lab XCHC in action!
