When the kōwhai is out, blossom is bursting through, and the sun is shining, it can only mean one thing – it’s the perfect time to put some spring energy into your Felt shop! We’ve divvied up some key housekeeping tasks into easy items for each week of September, so you can follow the steps and complete a full shop spring clean.
You can post your progress in the Felt Sellers Facebook group for feedback and inspiration as you go, comment below, or send us your shop link at Felt HQ so we can admire your handiwork (and maybe even give it some love on the socials).
By the end of September, you’ll have your shop looking spick and span, all ready for the festive season!

Week 1: Brush up your brand
Review your photos »
Online, your photos are your shop front and a big part of your brand – give them a critical once-over and note where you can make improvements.
Upload or update your profile picture »
Your profile picture could be your logo, you, or your studio. Whichever you choose to use, it helps add personality to your shop.
Add your shop name »
Check that your full shop name displays under your profile picture.

The three steps above are a great start! If you want to go deeper on brushing up your brand this week, take five minutes to read Felt Tips article What makes a good brand? Download the PDF exercises to help you define or refine your vision, positioning, and brand personality – all of these things will help you get the most out of your September spring clean!
Week 2: Top up and tidy up
Top up your account »
Keep your balance in the black so your shop’s primed and ready for action!
Renew expired and sold listings »
Tidy up any expired or sold listings you’ve let disappear during the year. Check those withdrawn items too!
Review your pricing »
Costs have changed a lot in the last 12 months, including shipping – make sure your pricing is accurate and up to date.

Check your workings: in the August edition of Felt Tips we looked at common pricing mistakes and how to avoid them. While you’re reviewing your pricing this week, revisit this article to make sure you’ve checked everything off and can be confident your pricing is sound.
Week 3: The write stuff
Review your descriptions »
Good written descriptions help persuade a customer to make that purchase. How can you improve yours?
Check your listings are complete »
Have you covered every detail in your listings, to make it as easy as possible for your customers to buy?
Optimise your shop for search »
Both Felt and Google use the written content of your shop and listings to generate search results. Check your content with this in mind to improve your search rankings.
Tell your story »
How does your “about the maker” page look? If you find it hard to write about yourself, try answering these questions to get you started.

Good Kiwi Craftsmanship is Felt’s public Facebook group especially for you to promote your Felt shop and listings. It’s super easy to join, completely free to post, and it’s all about getting you seen! The best posts have one to three great images of products, a chatty introduction, and a link to your Felt shop (make sure you include this, or your post won’t be approved) – or you can post a reel, or a Felt listing. Posts are moderated by us (just to ensure they adhere to Felt’s terms) and approved daily. So, for extra credit this week, craft a post to promote your work, and submit it for approval.
Week 4: The finishing touches
Stock up your shop »
Create new listings for stock you haven’t listed yet – a well-stocked shop is more attractive to customers.
Use your shop address»
Add your shop address to your social media profiles to direct customers to your Felt shop.
Find me on Felt »
Do people know they can find you on Felt? Order some resources to promote yourself as part of the Felt community.
