It’s now (drumroll please) The Devonport Craft and Fine Food Market – who could find fault with that? They’ve still got all your favourite local makers, but now you can be sure you won’t starve while you roam the stalls…

An extraordinary and beautiful collection of traditional Māori kākahu and weaving from five generations of one family is now a major exhibition in Hamilton. The remarkable women featured in this exhibition are acknowledged as New Zealand’s finest traditional Māori weavers.

Longtime local: the Alfriston Country Market

Alfriston Country Market, 8.30am–12.30pm, Saturday 6 December, Auckland

The Alfriston Country Market is a local institution. Created in mid-1982 to support South Auckland Hospice and Stroke Club, it has grown into a Saturday maker market with a wide range of beautifully handcrafted items. Recently their efforts market raised an amazing $3000 to donate to Totara Hospice – well done guys!
