Handmade is a contemporary multi-stream, creative and inspiring event being held at Te Papa in 2011.
The focus of the event is on celebrating handmade culture and teaching the skills and crafts of previous generations, used in a modern context and using modern technology, style and flair. Handmade’s multi-stream approach is designed to give people of all ages and all backgrounds the opportunity to learn in a workshop environment with expert teachers.
Originally planned for 2010 and with 18 months of preparation already in place and a global recession, Handmade was postponed for a year but is now confirmed for Queen’s Birthday 2011.
The organisers are currently calling on craft experts to come and share their passion by registering their interest in teaching a class at Handmade. If you’re at the cutting edge of craft and passionate about sharing knowledge and skills, Handmade want to hear from you!
Register your interest on their website, www.handmade2011.co.nz. The call for classes closes on 18 October 2010.
