Ngaio Rue by Ngaio Rue Simpson
Elegant contemporary lace jewelry with a vintage twist.
Ngaio Rue is a lightweight range of feminine lace jewellery, tatting techniques fused with modern technology and thinking. Handmade lace with a contemporary twist. A classic style that spans generations bringing handmade lace to a modern audience.
Living close to the coast and handmade lace is romance and elegance to me. I imagine characters from novels and computer games I love wearing my lace as they confidently ride dragons and weave spells in enchanted forests or reluctantly fall in love in the grounds of Pemberley.
Dream with me and you will find others are drawn to the magic of handmade lace too.
I have a BFA(Hons) is from Massey University. I grew up in Dunedin and have done various crafts for many years. In my degree I majored in painting and have a great appreciation for surface texture and colour.

My Jewelery and accessories are made from a technique called tatting, it is a delicate lace craft made from knots and picots formed over thread, it’s beautiful and light-weight but strong. There are two different styles of tatting shuttle tatting and needle tatting the method is different but the product is exactly the same, I use needle tatting for all of my creations.
Most items are strengthened using a permanent water based non-toxic fabric stiffener making the items very sturdy.
CARE INSTRUCTIONS: Items shouldn't need to much care, try to keep them dry but I have worn some of my earrings in a spa and they have survived and are still strong and solid.
EARRING HOOKS
Most of the earring hooks used are either Stirling silver or stainless steel making them Hypo allergenic I do also have some surgical steel earring findings can be used by special request for those with very sensitive ears. Please ask.
Thanks for visiting.
