Artist, illustrator, tutor and nature lover from Aotearoa / New Zealand.

Of Pākehā and Ngāti Kahungunu descent, ellaquaint has a Bachelor of Visual Arts (Sculpture) and a background in art education and adventure guiding. She is inspired by the wairua of the natural world and the amazing creatures that dwell within it; sustainability and treading lightly on the planet are integral to her practice. ellaquaint’s work is often simplistic in composition: she enhances subtle details and, at times, exaggerates the appearance of physical features essential to survival in her painted manu, insects and animals. Her work is held in collections nationally and internationally.

She currently resides in Wanaka, drawn to move there by the sublime landscape, epic mountains, and all the good things you can do on them.

" when I’m in nature everything falls into place ... I'm just one tiny piece of a big jigsaw puzzle , and I like that " - björk, 2008
