GARMENT PACK "DIXIE"

Description

I don’t often get so much precious hand spun wool, so I decided to keep it all together and offer it as a garment pack. The yarn was hand spun in the Manawatu from the fleece of a crossbred pet sheep named Dixie. It is a thick, yet very light, 2-ply woollen-spun yarn (for non-spinners: it’s not slick and smooth, but fluffy and fuzzy.)

I dyed more than 700g in a brilliant violet and painted almost 300g in matching shades of magenta/violet/burgundy/red for colourwork. In total, you have a kilo of yarn to make the jersey, poncho or cardigan you always wanted. The wool knits up superfast – depending on the project and your tension, knit with 7-8 mm needles.

Note: In the second picture, you can see that the garment pack is called "Tisiphone" after one of the ancient Greek furies whose name means "voice of revenge". This name came to me when I saw how bright and fiery the four contrasting skeins turned out. But when I thought about it later, it seemed natural to call the garment pack "Dixie", after the sheep who grew all that lovely wool. Tisiphone or Dixie - both good, me thinks...

The "small" print:
My hand-dyed yarns are non-repeatable runs, which means once they’re gone, they’re gone for good. Please hand wash your yarn with care. Wool labeled “superwash” you can cold machine wash. I take great care to achieve beautiful results that are lightfast and colourfast, but sometimes there is a tiny amount of colour running out of the wool at first, so wash your item separately.

NOTE:
I take commissions.

Please contact me if you live outside of New Zealand.

I will combine postage when possible.

When choosing colours please keep in mind that not all monitors show colours the same.

If you’re not satisfied with your wool you can return it to me in original condition, i. e. with label attached and at your own cost in exchange for different wool or a refund.

I’m a great believer in avoiding waste, and in recycling. That’s why I use recycled packaging materials wherever possible.

If you’re happy with your wool, please let me know and don’t forget to place feedback.
