Description

A hand embroidered HeLa Cervical Cancer Cell (for Henrietta Lacks) brooch. It seeks to show that despite the fact that nobody wants to harbour the virus, it is still a beautiful form. This brooch acknowledges the significant scientific contribution that the tissue samples of Henrietta Lacks have provided for cancer research! It features pink, turquoise, yellow and black. This is a one of a kind piece - and totally unique.

Wool felt has been hand-stitched and satin stitched one layer upon another, the brooch features a brooch pin on the back. All elements of the brooch are stitched - I do not use any glue.

The brooch is light and flexible - it can be pinned to your lapel, on a hat, as a shawl pin, or on a bag.
