Description
Make your own light up pohutukawa brooch using conductive thread, a 3mm LED, and a coin battery to light up the centre of your flower. Rather than having to deal with wires or soldering, the light works by sewing the LED and battery contacts with the conductive thread and a needle. The battery sits in a little felt pocket at the back of the flower.
The kit contains everything you need to make one 5cm wide pohutukawa pin:
- an instruction booklet
- 1 x green felt leaf/pocket already cut out
- red cotton yarn for the pom pom
- green cotton thread
- conductive thread
- 1 x yellow 3mm LED
- 1 x button for the centre
- 1 x sew on pin back
- 1 x CR2032 coin battery
You will need to provide your own sharp tapestry needle and a pair of needle-nose pliers, the kind used for jewellery making is just fine.
This a fun, simple introduction to wearable electronics. I will be listing some new soft circuit kits very soon, all based on a different native flower, and using a different technique for the light up effect. Thanks for looking.
