Resin Polishing

Hi,
I am relatively new to all this!
I have been making things for a couple of years and always have something new on the go!
At the moment, it's Resin work.
I just can't seem to get that perfect finish and I'm open to discussion!
I am filling bottle caps with resin and sanding the surface from 400-1500 grit paper. But I am still getting small cloudy marks/patches that WON'T come out!
Any help is much appreciated :)

Re: Resin Polishing

I read somewhere that future floor polish is the best polish to use for resins and polymer clay. I have not tried it yet but its really inexpensive and you can get it from most supermarkets. You still have to sand with really low grit sandpaper too though.

Re: Resin Polishing

Hi.
The cloudy marks could be from humidity. I had an oily looking finish on my resin. Now I dehumidify the room before resining and it has dissapeared.

Heya,

You shouldnt need to sand resin at all. I use ariscrat two part mix, pore, lighter, dry. done

Re: Resin Polishing

try brasso! or jiff.

They are gentle abrasives and will help to bring resin up to a nice shine

I generally don't need to sand or polish. I use a doming resin and as long as it is kept dust free it needs no extra work once set.
