Gap Filler is organising a Fun Fair at St Mary’s Church Square in Addington to be held on Saturday April 9 from 11am – 4pm. Money raised on the day from stalls and games will be split between the Red Cross and Gap Filler (to help cover costs and raise more money for future projects).

The fair will have a mixture of stalls and carnival games for kids of all ages to enjoy. Think: sponge toss, the pancake race, egg and spoon race, cake and craft stalls… there are endless possibilities! There will also be live music all day, too courtesy of the Addington Action Committee. This group have done a lot of work in the area in recent weeks and want to thank those involved as well as contribute to the fun of the Fun Fair. The line up thus far features: THE EASTERN, The Haze, La Petite Manouche and The Christchurch Boys Choir.

Gap Filler would really like to involve the wider community in their fair, and they are looking for people to come up with carnival game ideas, stall ideas and then take charge and run them on the day. You can do it on your own or with your friends or family.

They also need people to help out with assigned jobs on the day such as: manning the bouncy castle, sizzling sausages, helping to set up and decorate, packing up and so on. So, if you don't want to have a stall or run a game, you can help in other ways.

It’s a great chance to do something fun and creative, to mix with people in the community and work through the sadness, stresses and challenges of recent weeks in Christchurch. It's going to be a positive, community-oriented event that’s full of good old-fashioned fun!
