THE BONE-KNITTER
THE BONE-KNITTER THE BONE-KNITTER THE BONE-KNITTER THE BONE-KNITTER

Description

This is a thick-and-thin yarn made from slub-spun cotton that is plied with a thin cotton thread. Knitted up it makes a highly textured fabric that would suit summer garments, such as tops, light scarves or a pair of lacy socks or fingerless lace mittens.

The bone knitter inspired this colourway. I love comfrey flowers whose colours – on the same plant! – range from bright pink, through magenta and purple to a deep sky blue.

Comfrey is useful for the organic gardener and its leaves are aptly named “bone knitter” – what better name could a knitter wish for? If you experience tennis elbow, aches and pains in your hands or have a painful sprain – pick some comfrey leaves, bruise them, place them where the pain sits and cover them with a bandage. Comfrey leaves are prickly, so you might want to put a tissue between your skin and the leaves. Leave as long as you want. Replace as necessary. For me this works better than Voltaren gel and other anti-inflammatory creams.

Knit with 3-6 mm needles. For a picture of knitted plain stockinette (5.5 mm needles) please refer to the FIREFLY listing. It’s the same yarn in different colours. Oops! Firefly has been sold, so I attach a picture of it here.

3ply. One 55g ball (app 170m) and one 27g ball (app 85m) available – 82g in total. This listing is for the 55g ball.

Suitable for knitting, crocheting, weaving and other crafts.

The "small" print:

My hand-dyed wools are non-repeatable runs, which means once they’re gone, they’re gone for good. Please hand wash your garments with care. Wool labelled “superwash” you can cold machine wash. I take great care to achieve beautiful results that are lightfast and colourfast, but sometimes there is a tiny amount of colour running out of the wool at first, so wash your item separately. Cotton and other cellulose fibres will almost always "bleed" for several washes, so please keep them separate at all times when they're wet.

I only dye one batch of the same colourway at a time. Each listing will tell you the amount of wool I have in total. If the listing is for 50g and I have 150g in total – but you want 100g – please let me know so I can create a new listing for you. Postage, of course, has to be paid only once.

When choosing colours please keep in mind that not all monitors show colours the same.

If you’re not satisfied with your wool you can return it to me in original condition, i. e. with label attached and at your own cost in exchange for a different wool or a refund minus bank fees.

If you’re happy with your wool, please let me know and don’t forget to place feedback.
