Introducing… Makertorium

There’s a marvellous new makers’ event happening at Te Papa soon, and the team at Felt are very excited to be a part of it. Say hello to the inaugural Makertorium, a celebration of Kiwi ingenuity and maker culture!

On 27 April creators, tinkerers, crafters and inventors from all over the country will be heading to Te Papa to show off the skills that make them tick. With over fifty exhibitions and installations spread over eight zones, Makertorium promises to be a day of creativity and fun.

This is the first exhibition of this kind to be held in New Zealand and attendees will experience some of the best craft, design, tinkering and inventing in the country. There’ll even be hands-on workshops, including classes for mini-makers to learn about LEDS, electronics, digital design, rocket construction or even building a World War One-style periscope!

Several Felt sellers will be represented in the Craft Zone. Coulter and Coulter and Yana Skaler of Chromatophobic will be displaying their gorgeous creations, and Sebastian Denize of Handcast Pewter will be bringing out the hot metal and demonstrating pewter casting, medieval style. The Felt team will also be onsite – we’d love to meet you!
